FAQ

Answers to common questions

We will periodically wipe down touchpoints within the haunt throughout the evening.

Actors and everyone participating in the haunt are vaccinated.

The haunt is mostly open/exposed to the outdoors, and provides good ventilation.

Due to the evolving nature of the pandemic, we default to local guidelines on indoor mask requirements. If you are not vaccinated, we highly recommend you wear a mask.

Nope! We’re bringing the haunt for FREE to our community, so swing by and have some free spooky fun with us!

Yes! After our Covid-safe open-air show last year, we’re back to doing a walk-through haunt and all the immersive fun that entails.

The walk-through is about 5 minutes of solid scares. It doesn’t sound like much, but trust us – it’s good fun.

It depends on your child. There are loud noises, intense light effects and spooky monsters. There is very little gore. Please use your discretion.

We are at 24465 Chamalea Dr, Mission Viejo CA, 92691

The 2021 haunted house is open from 7-9PM the last three Fridays and Saturdays during October plus 6-10PM Sunday, October 31st.

7PM – 9PM: Oct 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30th

6PM-10PM: Oct 31st

We do our absolute best to make the haunt accessible to everyone – even if you’re in a wheelchair or on crutches. That said, there are tight corners and slight inclines. If you think that you’ll need assistance going through, we’re happy to lend a hand.

We have designated photo opportunity areas. Photos during the show are not allowed.

Heck yah, you are! This year is a brand new haunt and we’ve put a ton of blood, sweat, and more blood into the show. It’s amusement-park-level entertainment without the amusement-park-level price tag. We do it because we love Halloween and want to bring some spooky fun to the community.

Come enjoy our show and get into the Halloween spirit, this October!

Unfortunately not. The haunt is at a private residence with no entry to anyone other than actors.

ABOUT US

Meet Dave & Jacob Larson

The Creators of Pirate’s Cave Haunt

Dave & Jacob Larson

Pirate’s Cave Haunt has been providing family-friendly scares to the city of Villa Park & Orange for 22 years now. It’s a labor of love headed up by the father and son team Dave & Jacob Larson, at our home in Orange County, CA.

New to the neighborhood, Dave started the unofficial Pirate’s Cave back in 1999. The first year Dave simply stood out in the front yard with a “Phantom of the Opera” mask and a shovel, and ever since then the haunt has been evolving.

In 2004, his son Jacob was born into the haunt life. Over the years, Jacob grew a strong passion for Halloween and slowly began to help his dad more and more every year to construct the annual haunted house at their home.

For their 2020 season, Jacob wanted to expand the story of their haunt and created the highly lauded “Pirate’s Cave Origins”. A 10 minute narrated story featuring water fx, dmx lighting, and actors in the front yard of their home.

The father and son now work hand in hand and create memorable screams for years to come.
